Adding Students to Your Class

Two Ways to Add Students

There are two methods for adding students to your class in LifeSchoolers. You can share the join code and let students enroll themselves, or you can add students manually from the Teacher Dashboard. Both methods result in the student appearing in your class roster with full access to assignments.

Method 1: Self-Enrollment via Join Code

The simplest approach is to share your class's 6-character join code with students and let them enroll on their own. Students enter the code on the LifeSchoolers homepage or at the /join page, and they are immediately added to your class. This is ideal for situations where students already have LifeSchoolers accounts and can follow simple instructions independently. See the Sharing Join Codes article for more details on how to distribute the code.

Method 2: Manual Addition

If you prefer to control who joins your class, you can add students manually. Navigate to your class on the Teacher Dashboard and click the Add Students button. A form will appear where you can enter student information. You can enter email addresses one per line, or use the "Name, email" format to include names alongside email addresses. For example:

After you submit the form, students receive an invitation and appear in your class roster. If a student does not already have a LifeSchoolers account, they will need to sign up first before the invitation takes effect.

Which Method Should You Use?

For most classrooms and co-ops, sharing the join code is the fastest and easiest approach. Manual addition is better when you want to pre-populate your roster before the first class meeting, or when working with younger students who may need a parent to handle the enrollment process.

Tip: You can use both methods together. Share the join code with most students and manually add any who have trouble enrolling on their own.
