Creating Schools
What Are Schools?
Schools are the top-level organizational containers in LifeSchoolers. Each school holds one or more classes, and each class holds students and assignments. Think of a school as a folder that groups related classes together. For example, you might create one school for your homeschool co-op and another for your home-based teaching.
Adding a New School
From the Teacher Dashboard, look for the Add School form at the top of the page. Enter a descriptive name for your school in the text field — for example, "Riverside Co-op" or "Home Academy." Then click the Add School button to create it. The new school will appear immediately in the left column of the dashboard.
Organizing with Multiple Schools
You can create as many schools as you need. This is especially useful if you teach in multiple settings. Common examples include:
- One school per co-op or learning community you participate in.
- A separate school for home-based instruction with your own children.
- Different schools for tutoring groups that meet at different locations or times.
Schools appear in the left column of the Teacher Dashboard, making it easy to switch between them and see all your classes at a glance.
Deleting a School
If you no longer need a school, you can delete it from the school detail page. Click on the school name in the dashboard to open its detail page, then use the delete option. Be aware that deleting a school will also delete all classes within it, along with their student rosters and assignment data. This action cannot be undone, so make sure you no longer need any of the data before proceeding.
Tip: If you are unsure whether you will need a school again, consider renaming it or leaving it empty rather than deleting it. You can always add new classes later.
